Burt Caesar
LONDON / AFRO / CARRIBBEAN. A versatile mix of sounds from Brixton to South Central LA, and St Kitts to Cape Town. A voice for all seasons.
Burt was born and raised in St Kitts in the Caribbean, and has a firm grasp of the various West Indian accents, not to mention RP, Black London, African and American. His deliveries vary from deep authoritative resonance, to cool and street, to warm, mellow and sincere.
His stage performances include playing Lphakin in The Cherry Orchard (in Johannesburg & Birmingham - with Dame Janet Suzman, another Rhubarb artist), Capulet in Romeo & Juliet (Hammersmith Lyric Theatre), and Macduff in Macbeth (New York International Festival of Theatre).
On Film he was Lamu in Damion: Prequel To The Exorcist and The Exorcist IV: The Beginning, Father in New Year's Day, a tv reporter in Tomorrow Never Dies (James Bond film), Head of Amnesty in The Amnesty Files (HBO) and an African Dictator in Scoop (LWT).
His TV appearances include parts in Holby, Casualty (repeat performances as Dr Hammond), Dalziel & Pascoe (BBC), Prime Suspect II (Granada TV) Between The Lines, Albion Market (as Phil Smith) and The Professionals. Burt is also an experienced TV director, and has directed numerous episodes of Doctors.
His voice work includes some radio plays on BBC Radio 4, such as Hadji Murad. He's also recorded numerous commercials, clients including LG, Malibu, Branston and Pathaway Care, and promos for Film Four and several BBC TV channels. Burt has experience in dubbing/ADR, with contributions to a number of productions including Wondrous Oblivion and Wide Sargasso Sea. He has also narrated for a number of documentaries including Africa's Lions, Africa's Painted Dogs, America's Sea Turtles, California's Condors, Channel 4's The Last Slave, and re-voicing on Tearfund's Uganda Clean Water. More recently he's re-voiced the legend himself, in Netflix' PELE, a moving account of the great man's life, in large part through re-voiced interviews.
Outside of Burt's acting and voicing careers he's also a keen enthusiast in football, squash, tennis and Tai-Chi.
